another memo from ODG refering to a Ringing World article

Dear member,
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Chris Brown died early on Sunday morning (23/8/09). Chris had been ill and had undergone investigations at Royal Berks hospital for some time, but the cancer in his spine proved uncurable.
He was a very active ringer and supporter of branch events, and had been Deputy Ringing Master in the past. He gave a lot of support to both Hurst and Sonning towers.
Chris Brown's funeral will be at St Catherine's Bearwood on Tuesday 1st September at 2.30pm. Jo, his wife, has requested family flowers only, but donations to MacMillan Cancer Support in memory of Chris.

"I am writing to you in my role as a member of the Central Council Education Committee and I am also a ringer in Oxford. Each member of the CC Education committee is assigned a few ringing Guilds and Associations for which they are responsible - with this, we try to provide a point of contact for you should you wish to make any enquiries about any of the CC Education courses on offer or just find out how we might be able to help you, if required. We have a website which details the courses, and we are shortly going to be compiling a newsletter with updated course information in which will be sent round to everyone.
http://www.cccbr.org.uk/education/
The website outlines the courses and various teaching books, and also contains links to various teaching materials which can be freely downloaded plus infomation on teaching resources and young people. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any queries regarding education matters for the ODG."

Roll of Honour
from Hilarie, 10 june 2009
One of the items that came my way following the Central Council Meeting at the end of May was the following: "There was an appeal from the steward of the Rolls of Honour ( ringers who died during the Great War and WWII at present only these ) for ALL ringers to be vigilant if they are reading peal boards in towers they are visiting or anywhere else where mention might be made of ringers who died in action. The records are incomplete and he is calling for anyone who has observed a memorial like this to ringers to get in touch with him with names, and if the locals are knowledgeable, photos. This is something we could all do to help. The care he has taken over this project is unbelievable."
Please could you circulate it amongst your ringers when convenient - they can contact the Steward of the Rolls of Honour on aregin
spitalfieldse1.freeserve.co.uk
or via the Central Council website.

AGM news - an abridged letter from Hilarie, Guild Secretary, 17 may 2009
At the AGM, Ed Houghton and Lorna Smale were elected Stewards to replace Martin Crick and Shirley Haines. Their contact details, and the branches each Steward will look after, will be on the website in due course.
In addition, Mike Till stood down as a Central Council Rep, and was replaced by Graham Clifton.
The proposed Rule Changes were adopted and a copy of the new Rules will be posted on the Guild Website in the next few days. Anyone who would like a paper copy should contact Hilarie, preferably with an SAE.
